A man accused of stalking and harassing pop singer Rihanna has been arrested.
E! News reports that 53-year-old Kevin McGlynn of New York City was arrested late last week in connection to the 26-year-old-singer. His charges include: 2nd degree menacing, 1st degree harassment, stalking in the 4th degree and a hate crime.
The “Can’t Remember to Forget You” songstress, who owns an apartment in New York’s SoHo neighborhood has been the recipient of the alleged stalker’s unwelcome visits and drop-offs.
It’s reported that McGlynn (described as an older white male) was caught numerous times on the building’s security footage, delivering what an employee of Rihanna’s referred to as “unsettling” letters, between the dates July 7-July 11.
According to McGlynn’s criminal complaint, the letters repeatedly referred to Chris Brown’s ex as a “b—ch”, and were full of threats to “bum rush” the singer in her apartment. A source reports that Rihanna feared for her safety after hearing about the separate incidents. It’s also alleged that McGlynn sent an additional 4 letters to the singer in California.
Assuming he wanted to remain anonymous, he probably should have been more careful during the NYC deliveries, as it was later reported that McGlynn mistakenly dropped one of his bank cards in the singer’s apartment building.
That mistake cost him big. As all good police work goes, authorities were able to track him down and make their arrest on Thurs., July 24.
The following day, the 53-year-old appeared in court and claimed that Rihanna, Jay Z and Kanye West “ripped off my material.”
Our best guess is that, that is what triggered him to send those menacing letters. Fortunately that’s the only harm he was able to do.
Since his court arraignment on Friday, Kevin McGlynn has been held without bail.
