Chris Brown reveals how he has an issue with Jay-Z, talks about his own anger issues, and even says he identifies with Trayvon Martin.
Gracing the cover of JET magazine, Brown sits down with the magazine to discuss various topics. On the topic of Jay-Z, Brown states that perhaps he and Jay-Z aren’t treated the same:
“No disrespect, because I’m a fan, but nobody brings up the fact that [Jay Z] stabbed somebody and sold drugs. He gets a pass.”
Brown also says he compares himself to Trayvon Martin:
“I identify with Trayvon 100 percent as far as living in 2013 and still dealing with blatant racism. This generation is so used to racism that it’s normal; we don’t care. We aren’t on drugs or catching AIDS, but they still look at us as ni**as.”
Brown has obviously had numerous documented situations where his anger took control and he ended up looking more insane than usual. On his issues with anger Brown says:
“You have to go through the struggle before you can get to the good part. I don’t try to lash out at people, or be as mad or impulsive as I used to be…I got to the point where it’s only so much you can take from the master, you feel me? I’ve taken my fair share of lashings.”
Yes, it is true that perhaps the casual fan doesn’t know much about Jay-Z’s past, so that is a reason he gets a “pass.” That and for more than the last 10 years Jay-Z is one of the most successful rappers out there as he continues to “uh,uh,uh-huh” through his songs. On the other hand, Brown has been known for his serious anger issues, which has overtaken his musical “abilities.” With Brown, it is one step forward, 17 back, so he probably won’t be getting a free pass anytime soon.
